5. Treasurer’s Report. Monthly reports for April, May, June and July were read by JW and approved by GK and JH. JW presented details of projected cash flow figures for the club. There followed a lengthy discussion on the drain to our finances from the monthly hire costs for the school facilities, despite the healthy contributions from Garscube Harriers. We are making an operating loss year upon year which we cannot sustain indefinitely before we run out of capital. Do we need to think about fundraising activities to supplement our income? Club coaches to decide if we require the track and/or hall during the winter months. Can we cut the let to one hour?
6. Correspondence. JW to complete annual return form for Scottish Athletics and Phil Dolan to reply to SA re proposed young athletes age group changes.
7. Junior Section. Numbers attending training nights continue to be healthy. We finished in 6th place in the YDL, cementing our place in the league for next year. CSSAL League to be finished next week, where we are in a healthy position. The club championships will commence asap, with a possibility of holding them on a Saturday. The long awaited presentation night will also hopefully be arranged this side of Christmas.
8. OCB. A. Website. There is still a lack of members engaging with the website. We need to encourage members to register and use the website regularly. B. John Hume Trophy. After a brief discussion, the committee agreed to award this trophy annually to the overall best club performer at Highland Games events where we attend as a club. RP to scrutinise this year’s results following the last events of the year in September. Trophy will then be awarded at a club night so that we can send a photograph to the family of John Hume, who donated the trophy.
