As I said in the last post, I have spoken to members of other sports to see what their fee structures and financial administration systems are. The responses are below.
Rugby– yearly membership which from was £120 and membership to the SCRUMS was about £20 for a junior. That was it for the year. Howe of Fife doesn’t charge a monthly fee unless they hired a minibus for matches then it was £10 per match. 2 training sessions a week, you have to buy your kit.
Rugby offers an additional discounted Strength &Conditioning session once a week for £18 p/m normally £22 if you’re not a club member
Soccer was £52 a month for football, and you buy your own kit. Regardless of level, that’s a flat fee for anyone, the primary school offers the opportunity to pay an extra £10 and they can access the extra training after school but after primary it’s just your two sessions a week. My grandson’s current football team is £35 a month. He has been given a kit but must take part in fundraisers for most things. This covers two sessions a week.
Daughter’s football is £20 per month (although she gets it free as she is a coach) junior membership is £15 a month. They pay for their own strips in the junior teams, but not seniors. This covers 2 sessions a week. Football 10/11 years old – £35 per month for 2 training sessions and 1 match per week.
Swimming – started at £28 per month for 2 sessions per week. Then increased to £42 per month for 4 sessions per week plus yearly registration fees of £60. All competitions were additional per swim.
Swimming is different from other sports depending on the child. Increased the higher you went. of the girls were in the higher squad and they were £30 a month, and could access up to 4 sessions a week. The other 2, only trained twice a week, and were £24.
Junior golf membership is £60 for the year with 2 “free” lessons. I have also read that Private golf clubs are offering lots of serious inducements to attract younger players.
The above information came from two sources – both families are really involved in sport and have more than one generation involved. Given the above – are we charging too little for our sport?
