I have spent some time recently adding items to the club archive, most of which is kept in the Dumbarton Library.   There are items such as posters for meetings in and about 1905 at Ibrox and Kilbowie Park, posters for club dances in the 1920’s, photographs of club dinners, which are not available to view right now because the room in which they are to be stored is currently about to be fitted out.   There are also some medals and trophies kept in Dumbarton too.   The rules to visit the archive are simple.   Contact the archivist, say what it is you want to see and arrange a date.   It’s that simple.   Rules when you visit are clear: no food or drink to be consumed while you are using the materials, you must use a pencil and not a pen, and you can take as many photographs of the material as you like totally free of charge but if you want a photocopy made then there is a small fee for that.   The online link is

Among the items available are the club handbooks issued to members from 1885 to 1914 and after the first War, Cash books with details of subs paid by such as Football Players Willie Malley of Celtic, Tom Vallance of Rangers, RA Vogt champion cyclist, minute books for the period from 1895 through to 2006 although we recently added the club minutes from 1898 to the start of 202 which were received from Peter Rudzinski.   Lots of photographs and newspaper clippings too.   We are still working on it and there are gaps to be filled, but it is there and available.   Details on access are at the link given.
