Friday 26th January, saw the running of the 3K on the Green, a fast and flat monthly race at Glasgow Green. Two of the older members of the club took part with over 60 Paul McKendry finishing 50th in a time of 13.11 and over 70 Peter Rudzinski finishing 75th in a time of 16.14. It was very windy on the day which probably made the times a bit slower (only an excuse!), but I would recommend this race if you are free. It’s held on the last Friday of each month, 12.30 start, £2 to enter with all proceeds going to charity.
Sunday 28th January, we had the Scottish Veteran Harriers Club Road Relay at Strathclyde Park. We managed to drum up four old guys to take part in the men’s over 50 race. each leg was 6K.
James Austin (0/55) ran the first leg in a time of 22.44, Graeme Wiseman (0/50) ran the second leg in a time of 26.41, next up the indomitable Bobby Young (0/80) ran a time of 30.23 and Peter Cartwright (0/80) finished off the race with a time of 35.03. The team finished in 11th place in the 0/50 race.
The old guys are now looking forward to the Masters XC Championships at Forres, on the Moray coast, approx. 25 miles northeast of Inverness in two weeks time.
